Sports massage is a deeper form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue in the body. This type of massage is used to correct imbalances in the body and treat acute and chronic injuries caused by repetitive and strenuous physical exertion.
Whether this exertion is due to exercise, sport, everyday life or that of the work place, the application of sports massage prior to and after an activity may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.
As an accomplice to deep tissue massage, we also utilise a mixture of other techniques where and when required. Some of these techniques include, trigger-point release, pinning and stretching (soft tissue release) and various other stretching methods. Massage sessions can be full-body or concentrated in one area depending on the ailment or requirement.
Sports massage is also highly effective at correcting postural imbalances caused by desk-based work, or prolonged sitting. This is a very common driver for a lot of lower back, neck and shoulder issues we see in the world today.
Our philosophy is to initially treat the pain, and then to quickly get to the root cause of the issue, so it doesn’t occur again. Typically, most acute cases can be fixed in 1-3 sessions. Chronic conditions may take longer e.g., frozen shoulders or sever strains.
